Becky was sitting in the common room. It was midnight and she couldn't sleep, it happened sometimes that she would get anxious and would just phase through her bed everytime she had a nightmare. Her power was more controlled now, but it would still happen from time to time, she had to talk to Valentina about it.
She was just sitting there with the remote in one hand flipping through the channels when she saw something on the news. Apparently some mutants were arrested for starting a fire at the park and injuring 5 people. She hated when stuff like this happened because it made humans hate them even more.

Rayne was walking past the Common Room when he spotted someone sitting there watching Tv. He thought about sitting next to them and talking but why should he? If they couldn't sleep that was their problem. He personally, had been able to sleep fine, but he never slept that long anyways. Every once in awhile, it's possible he'd get maybe 3 hours of sleep, but usually it was 1 or 2. Rayne then decided to be a nice person and talk to whoever was sitting there.
When he walked over and leaned on the top of the couch, the news came up. He watched it in some slight interest, smirking as he saw the fire. "Pitiful fire if you asked me...They could have done a whole lot better, it could have been slightly taller and more flamey." His British accent seemed quite out of place at the academy and it was kind of hard not to hear the accent whenever he talked.

"Yeah, because that would have been So Much Better..." Ryan said, as she walked into the common room. Her head was pounding, as the children slept. Their dreams and nightmares seeping into her mind- but one stood above the rest- Becky's. She couldn't place exactly what she was dreaming about- considering that there were so many thoughts in her mind, that she couldn't focus on just one- but she could feel the intensity of hers.
"What's up, Beckster?" Ryan asked, as if they had been friends all her life, as she walked over and sat down next to her- propping her leg underneath her as she sat. She was still in her pjs, and slippers, but she didn't mind. Everyone at the school had seen more skin- and honestly, she didn't give a crap. People could peg her as whatever they wanted- she liked how she looked, and wasn't shy about showing it off...
"Have a bad dream?" She asked, but didn't need to. By now, she was so used to doing this, that it seemed to be a regular basis thing. Ryan looked up at Rayne- she could hear his thoughts. It was funny- he was a bad-ass through and through. His fires had to be the best, and he could do better than any- even Pyro himself. Well, that's how he saw it, at least. Unless he found a way to block her from hearing his true thoughts, and those were just ones to keep up an image. The quiet boy, with fire in his palms.

Rayne smirked as he saw Ryan walk in, of course it would be Ryan. He rolled his eyes as she walked over to where he and the girl...Becky he assumed, were at. He felt something in the back of his mind,...almost an itching. His eyebrows knitted together in thought, wondering what it was. Rayne then looked down at Ryan and tilted his head in confusion. "Are you doing something with my mind??" He didnt have any telepathic powers but his enhanced hearing seemed to pick it up sort of. Her telepathic waves were like very faint sound waves.

Ryan just looked at him for a minute. She hadn't been trying to do anything to him- was he sensing her trying to read this thoughts? She shook her head with a slight smile. No, no he couldn't sense that- the only person who ever knew when she was doing that was Wolverine- well, the only living person. When Jean and her uncle were alive, she couldn't do anything without them knowing it.
"Of course, not...what do you mean?" She smirked, as she watched Becky Amber click away at the remote. It was the middle of the night- there was certainly nothing on right now. Nothing but stupid infomercials, and Adult Swim on the cartoon channel. The news would be the only interesting thing tonight- and only for the simple fact that mutants were being slashed ocne again for the actions of few.

Rayne raised his eyebrow in suspicion, he assumed it had been her but it's possible it wasn't. He looked at Becky then back at Ryan. "No it was you....you must have at least been reading my thoughts or soemthing, and no I dont have telepathic powers. Well I'm assuming you knew that since you're all reading people's thoughts..." He saw her smirk. "Come on don't lie to me Ryan...I know you know what I mean" Rayne walked around the couch and sat down in the seat opposite of the couch.

Ryan couldn't help but laugh.
"Paranoid much, Rayne- jeez." She exclaimed, as she watched him make his way to the other couch and sit. Becky was still silent, but it didn't surprise Ryan much. She was focused on the screen- and she was a teenager after all.
"I wasn't trying to do anything- I was just...curious." She said, as she raised herself from her current posision and sat flat. It was a comfy tempurature in the room, but she could feel it heating up- no doubt from Rayne and his firestarter ways. He must have been getting angry, or something- something was making the tempurature go up.

He glared at Ryan, "I'm not paranoid, I just don't like people in my thoughts...it's....disturbing" Rayne sighed, well at least she hadn't asked how he knew she was reading his thoughts, he didnt like explaining a lot of things to people. He smirked, "Well next time you're "curious" as you say, go read someone else's mind who doesnt give a damn whether you're inside their head or not." So he was slightly angry at her being in his thoughts. Usually he didnt realize when he was making the room heat up, but he knew he was since he was getting angrier. Rayne exhaled slowly, dropping the temperature back to the way it had been before he got angry.

"Well, no one's quite as interesting as you are Rayne." Ryan laughed, her tone sarcastic. Ryan normally liked getting a rise out of people, but considering that he could turn her into a very toasty girl. No, instead of running it further, she would stop ...for now. She could tell he was calming himself though- the tempurature in the room was getting back to normal. Not that she minded- one thing about firestarters was that they could keep ya warm. She remembered when Pyro was still good- the history they had. Maybe she was just attracted to his active power.
"I'll make you a deal... you stop trying to cook everyone- and I'll stop fishing in your head, deal?" She asked, as she held her hands up in a comic 'white flag'.

"Oh well thanks Ryan...it's good to know people I'm so bloody interesting!" The heat in the room rose again but soon dropped, he needed to get in control. He'd never make it out of the academy if he couldn't control his rage which triggered the fire. After he heard her ask for a truce, he realized she didnt want him to burn her. He smirked before concentrating and heating only Ryan, raising her body temperature slightly then lowered it. "Fine...I'll try and not cook everyone...at one time"

Firestarters always had a deep temper. Tehy had a problem with athority and most of the time, ended up on the opposite of good. Ryan made a note of this- making enimies with Rayne wouldn't be wise, on either account. Although, she was starting to think that she'd be the one to turn to that side, far before Rayne- and it scared her. Things just seemed more interesting on the other side- more satisfying. Not having to worry about the consiquences of your actions...being able to do whatever you wanted with no second thinking. It was very tempting.
She laughed. He really was a smartass- although, she doubted he was joking. She could already tell that he was becoming more powerful- and having trouble controling it...just as Pyro did. It was only a matter of time. She felt her body tempurature rise a bit, as a small trickle of sweat made it's way down from her forehead. Becky wasn't effected, so she knew what he was up to. Tricks that she had come to know- but before she could say anything, everything was normala gain.
"You are interesting..." She said, wiping the small now-cold sweat drop from her forehead.

RAyne couldn't help but watch her, his eyebrow raising as sweat came from her forehead after he had risen her body temperature. He leaned back in his seat, smiling at Ryan. "Was the room too hot for you Ryan??" He laughed at his little joke, but he soon stopped. "So if you dont mind me asking, can you only do telepathic stuff??...What I mean is do you have nay other powers?" Rayne wondered if she'd answer him, because he knew he'd be hesitant about telling her of his other power, but his other power wasn't a big deal. Rayne suddenly snapped his fingers making a flame appear on his finger tip, it was a habit when he was waiting for something.

Ryan shook her head, and almost immediately lowered her head. She wasn't going to tell him about her other power- well, what used to be her other power. For some reason, when she started getting telepathic vibes, she slowly lost her telecanisis- well, that or it went dormant.
When she was younger, and she'd get mad- or pouted, things would fall off the walls. It was normal for her though- her uncle and mother were both mutants. Ryan turned her attention to the fuzzy screen as she looked on.
"No...none." She wasn't about to tell him. He was hiding something-s he could tell. One of the reasons why she was tryign to read his mind earlier- she could sense it. There was something further, but she couldn't get to it...not now, at least.

Rayne could tell she was lying, it was the way she had said none. His enhanced hearing could tell when someone was lying by the frequencies in the vocal chords, but he didnt say anything about her lying. He wasn't about to tell her his other power either.
He smirked,"Well that sucks...so all you can do is read minds. Hmm, I'd rather play with fire, but that's just me personally" Rayne suddenly changed the fire on his finger tips into a medium sized photo of Ryan. It had taken him months of concentration to learn how to do that, but now it came with ease. He smiled then cut the flames off.

Ryan turned her head, as a small portrait in flames appeared from his fingers. It was amazing- he was starting to act like Pyro- although, she wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad one. She smiled, as she looked at it.
"Oh, wow..." She said. It didn't even look like he was consintrating-almost as if he had worked hours on getting this trick down. Tricks. They were all tricks to her. She almost wanted to change the picture by putting another image in his mind, but she couldn't. Not even if she tried. Her uncle had put a lock on her mind, preventing her of certain things...sadly, the only one who could even be close to breaking it, was her ex and she wasn't about to go that far...not just yet.
"That's awesome, Rayne..."
