It was getting quite late, streets getting filled with young people off to have fun in the night clubs. One young person though wasn't. A young red haired female walked in the direction of the cemetery, deep in her own thoughts. Everything in this time was so different from what she knew, it almost felt like a vacation in paradise world. Okay, maybe not real paradise, but compared to her world this was one. Only most of the time she felt rather stupid here, not getting the usual thing done for fun, seeing them pointless. Not to mention the idea of being in school.
Rachel may have been a clever girl, usually getting things fast, but as far as she could remember she never did go to school. Usually she just gained the knowledge she needed herself, either by trying to figure things out, in rare case let someone show her or 'borrow' the knowledge from someone else's mind. As far as that was from ethical it was the only way this girl knew. Not that it was actually something to brag about.
Coming to the cemetery tonight was a wild attempt of something in her to get away, as weird as it sounded. Not every girl her age went to find a little peace to where the dead dwell. Opening the now locked gate with her telekinetic power she entered and started to walk between the graves. In a weird way this place seemed a bit like home, the dead atmosphere, the silence. Only difference was the place wasn't damaged to the next century.

It has been a few months now since Dougie was abandoned by the people he used to call parents. He will never understand the reasons why they turned their backs on him, sure he was a mutant, but he was not evil. All this hatred towrds mutants drove him crazy, it was all so stupid. I mean, it was true that some mutants used their powers to do bad things and hurt people, but not all mutants were the same. Humans did the same too as far as he was concerned, some used their talents do do evil and kill.
As he walked around town he arrived at the cemetery. He had never been here before but it seemed like a nice, quiet place to come a think. The Academy was nice and all, but there was barely time to be alone, every room was crowded with other mutants just like him, some could even read his mind and he really hated that.
As he made his way through the gravestones, admiring some very interesting statues on the way, he noticed a young girl. For a moment he thought of just walking away and leave her alone, maybe she wanted to be alone with her thoughts and he didn't want to be a pest. He sat on the ground a few feet from her and rested his head on a gravestone

Part of the girl wondered where were her parents truly buried, she never asked anyone since finding herself in this time. From her days she had limited few memories of them, none of which made real sense, so she guessed it was from early child years. Still, the were her parents, hell people used to tell her she was so much like her mother all the time. Maybe she acted slightly annoyed at this and did want to be her own woman, not a copy of Jean Grey, but still it made her feel slightly proud at that statement, whenever somebody said it.
As she walked a particular grave caught her name, a person named Jeremy Hallowell was buried there. Although the first name wasn't anything unusual, the surname was what brought back rather unpleasant memories. Memories of her hound days. Rachel could remember a mutant, named Matthew Hallowell, who she hunted down at certain point. He was one of the ones that didn't want to be taken down, gave a good fight. One of the, although few but still, actually lethally harmed in the heat of the fight. How those memories hurt, those bastards who did that to her deserved no better than death.
Going deeper to the memories than she wanted, Rachel crossed the fragile line that kept her powers under her control and the gravestone before her started to literally shake, threatening to crack any moment now. The girl didn't even notice she wasn't alone in there anymore.

As Dougie sat the enjoting the calm and peaceful air that the cemetery had to offer he couldn't help but turn his sight towards the young girl standing a few feet away from him. She was not only the most beautiful girl he had ever seen, but she was also mysterious in a way. There was something about her that made him want to know more, maybe it was the look in her eyes, they seemed a bit sad, confused...but lovely.
Dougie was not the type of guy who would just walk up to a girl and tell her how beautiful she was, she would never just start hitting on a girl and he sometimes envied the guys that could be so open about their feelings. Dougie just smiled as the though of him walking over, acting like james bond or something and saying soething like: Hey there little lady...he would sound so ridiculous, and it wasn't him at all.
As he sat there observing each of her movements, the earth began to shake. It wasn't an earthquake, in fact it seemed like only he felt it since the some of the people who were mourning didn't even look up. He wondered if the girl was to blame for this event. He remebered something a teacher mentioned in class once, that your powers were linked to emotions and that sometimes those emotions seem to take control of our powers if we let them. Slowly and carefully, he stood up and wiped the back of his pants as he approached the girl. He didn't know if he was doing the right thing, but he wanted to help and make sure this girl was alright.
"Excuse me?...Are you alright?"

As Rachel slowly drifted maybe a bit too far into her feelings even her eyes started to slightly turn from their usual emerald green to the color of fire. Then all of a sudden she heard a voice, someone was speaking to her. Amusing how only as little as someone's voice could bring a person crashing back down to reality. The girl's eyes returned to their natural color in a split of a second, the reality only to make her realize just what she was doing just now. Losing control over your powers to your emotions wasn't the best development, she never wanted to let that happen again.
Turning around to see just who saved her from damaging the resting place of some innocent soul, she saw a boy standing there. He was rather good looking, and there was something about this whole scene of just standing there and looking at a stranger who saw her in a rather embarrassing moment of losing control, that extinguished the remaining fire within. For a moment there she didn't know what to really say, she rarely got into an awkward situation like this.
"I...yes. I'm fine. Just got a little too carried away there. Happens." She finally said, managing a small smile, glad that at least she hadn't completely lost her voice. That would have really topped off a perfectly stupid feeling about herself.

It was an akward moment indeed and Dougie wondered if this girl knew that he was a mutant just like she seemed to be. He understood perfectly what it meant to loose control of your emotions and become a menace to everyone around you. There were momtns in his life where he almost electrocuted a few people when they were making fun of him or almost killed his foster father when dared to hit him across the face the day that he founf out about Dougie's true nature. It was not the best feeling in the world when you are overpowered like that by something that lives deep inside of you, and it that moment you are afraid of becoming the thing most humans fear.
Living at the Academy has helped Dougie understand more about what he was and learn about control, even though he was not a great student and hated most of the classes, he had to give the academy some credit.
It felt like like time had stopped or something because he couldn't say a word once he was face to face with this girl, he was completely hipnotized by her eyes and the color of hair...Snap out of it you idiot, he though to himself. He walked closer to her with his hands in his pockets and a warm smile on his face"
"I know what you mean. Is there anything I can do to help?" Now that was a stupid question. What in the world could he do?

Living with the thought of being a menace to all around if she ever went too far was not very pleasant, but still Rachel couldn't imagine life without her powers. As reluctant as she was to admit it, they were the only thing that got her through life. Without her telepathic powers it would take twice as time to get a grasp on needed stuff, and with no telekinetic powers she'd feel as if she was missing a hand. That was why she always felt more at ease around others - that way there was always someone to bring her back should the need for it come.
The whole being at school thing now was about as alien as it could get to her. For example she never had to do anything as a homework before. Unless one took a mission as homework. Though that was as far from math, algebra and stuff as it got.
It appeared that the stranger was as much at loss of words as she was, and a part of her couldn't help but wonder what was on his mind, but she restrained herself from entering his mind without permission. That would be very rude. And with this guy she didn't want to make the impression of a mind invader. When he walked closer with his hands in his pockets like that, the slightly awkward feeling returned. But company was a thing she appreciated now.
"Well, actually you could. Keep me company, talk, something to keep my mind busy." She said a little shyly, smiling. She knew that if her mind was busy she couldn't drift away and do something she may regret later. "I'm Rachel by the way. Rachel Summers. And you are?"

This girl had something, Dougie couldn't decipher what that something was, but she was really special. He walked even closer and stopped once he was close enough to touch her. He raised his hand and offered it to her in a gesture of friendship "I'm Dougie...Dougie Parker. It's nice to meet you Rachel"
Dougie was nervous, he couldn't understand why but he was and he hoped that RAchel wouldn't be able to tell and to notice that his palms were actually sweating. Maybe it was the fact that he was talking to the most beautiful girl he has ever seen...even better, the fact that this girl was talking back.
A smile was drawn in his face as she said she wanted him to stay with her, she obviously was worried about something . "Of course, I can stay with you. that is some power you've got there...let me guess, telekinesis, right?"

Rachel felt kinda strange when he came even closer, she blamed it on not being used to standing close with new people. This world had tons of new things she needed to get used to, probably starting with 'don't act stupid in new situations' lesson. If she was supposed to survive in here that was the first thing on her list to learn. Maybe along with not hanging often in usually weird places, like the cemetery for example.
Shaking his hand she smiled a little, he seemed slightly nervous. And his palms were sweating. Hopefully it wasn't because of being freaked by her, god she hoped not. "It's nice to meet you too, Dougie. Nice name. Don't think I've ever met anyone with a same one." She replied, still with a smile. The girl decided not to go into the nervous thing, nor look into his mind to know what was going on. She'd go non telepath right now.
"Thanks. Guess I'll owe you one for the company. And yeah, telekinesis. Good guess. Though I'm also telepathic, and no I don't invade minds of others if they don't give permission, so no worries." Alright now that was a white lie, she had invaded minds of others in the past without permission, or still now during classes. But her future amends had no place here, and the classes thing was just so that she didn't seem stupid. She didn't really tell anyone she never went to school before, in fear it would give away too much about the future. "How about you? Got any neat powers? I take it you are a mutant, otherwise you wouldn't be so nice after seeing the power thing."

Oh god, she totally noticed his sweaty palms, Dougie just hoped that she didn't realize it was because he was nervous to be around her, he just wasn't used to this, he was not the type pf guys who would just talk to a pretty girl, he normally kept to himself. He really didn't want Rachel to think he was weird or somethiing like that, because he wasn't, he was just not that sociable.
When he heard about thefact that Rachel had telepathic powers he did feel a bit scared, the thought of someone invading his mind and knowing his every though was frightening. Rachel said that she never did that without permission, but he wondered..if she can loose control of her telekinetic powers, wouldn't the same thing happen to her telepthic power?
"Yes, I'm a mutant, I think it's kind of neat actually, but my parents didn't" it really pissed him off, the fact that his parents turned their backs on him just because he was different. Being a mutant was fun, but he wasn't a show off, the time would come for them to see his power, but there was no need to justrandomly use it.
"I believe the technical term for my powers are, electrokinesis and electrical transportantion....all it means is that I can create electricity with my body and tranform myself into an electrica conduit to travel through any current, like tv, radios, computers, etc"

Rachel could tell by the expression on his face for a moment that the fact she was telepathic disturbed him. Not that she wasn't used to that, people tended to not trust telepath so much. Who could blame them, having a power like that and as strong as hers tended to corrupt. She even admitted that to herself, she didn't know how to live without those powers. They were almost, for the lack of better word addictive.
"Oh. Sorry about that. It's not really pleasant when people judge you just by fear they feel by the possibility what you could do." And did she knew how that was oh too well. At certain times when her powers were off, back in her time, people tended to act more careful around her. Although they had a reason she still hated it. Sometimes she just felt like blowing something up when that happened. As if it was her fault she had a past and rather destructive abilities.
"Really? Wow that sounds sort of cool. So you could be like in my computer too? And the TV? I so hope you never just jump out of something like that without warning. I'd freak out and accidents would surely follow." She joked, but meant it. Last thing she wanted for to hurt him because of some shock. Like the time Kate ran through a wall only in a towel to get some not as dirty clothes and almost collided with Rachel. And the telekinetic was willing to bet that being suddenly thrown into a wall was no fun.
"Could you show me? I'd really like to see that." She asked, looking at the boy with something that could only be called puppy dog eyes. Sometimes that surface innocence of hers was so very deceiving.
