Rayne strolled down from his dorm to the common room. He was deathly bored, it seemed as if everyone had something to do but him. He couldn't get in contact with his new bud, Adam, and Becky had something planned, so he figured why not just waste my time in the common room? Usually there was at least someone intersting that would walk by. He hopped over the couch, his feet hitting the cushions, he then sat down and turned the TV on. He was flipping through the channels, nothing interesting on.

Rachel woke up that day to a rather horrible dream, seeing the people she had lethally wounded in her future, as a hound. It at first appeared as a normal enough dream, walking through an empty street. Then they appeared, all around her as if wanting to get her. Still she remembered the feeling like there was no escape, like she was trapped. Then all of a sudden she saw a fiery shape of a phoenix and a light, felt rage. To that she woke up, breaking the glass of windows by her powers.
Truth to be told she didn't know what she was going to tell people if someone saw, as if that was something she could hide. Though she sure as hell was going to try, sleeping in a relative cold of the night wasn't really anything out of the ordinary. And in the room she also had covers. Walking down to the common room with a book,as if nothing have happened, Rachel sat down in a chair and began to read.
Books were nice, one thing she couldn't get in her head with telepathy. Books had no mind, she had to read them the old fashioned way. Which was also good for calming the nerves.

Rayne had still been watching TV when he noticed someone walk in out of the corner of his eye. He smiled, finally someone to join him int he common room. Rayne looked at who had come in, she was pretty but in his opinion not as pretty as Becky. He again smiled, thinking of Becky...he liked her so much. He shook his head clearing his thoughts so he could talk to the girl that had come in. "Hope I'm not disturbing you....but I dont think we've met before. I'm Rayne, and you are...." He was being polite which was what he usually did before deciding on whether they were a friend or foe.

Rachel opened the book and began to read when she heard a voice speaking to her. Looking up she saw a boy standing there, trying to start a polite conversation. Oh well, seemed the book would have to wait. Hopefully she wouldn't do something stupid like acting weird or anything. She did that enough already, lying to probably everyone around about the true 'colors' of the future and her true nature. But she was sure if they'd known she wouldn't have been accepted as warmly.
"No, you are not disturbing. Just trying to pass time reading." She replied with a shrug, smiling slightly. The boy didn't seem to be a telepath or have mental powers, that was good. No mind reading meant no danger to her cover lies. Which in turn meant acting less tense then around people with mental powers. Like Becky. That is if she didn't count the last time. That was acting stupid.
"I'm Rachel, nice to meet you Rayne. So what were you up to? Anything in particular or just passing time like me?" She asked with slight interest. The more people she befriended here, the more chances would there be of them not potentially suspect her of anything out of the ordinary.

Rayne smiled, glad to hear that he wasn't interrupting her form anything. He scooted over to the other side of the couch, to be closer to her. There was no sense in him sitting on the other side and they'd have to practically yell at each other. He shrugged at her question. "Well....I was watching TV" He glance in the TV's direction, smirking as a news report about a fire and destruction at the local zoo came on. He and Adam had had so much destroying the zoo. "Not that TV's intersting...everything's been boring lately. So what are you reading?" He was interested, she seemed like an interesting person. Rayne leaned back in his seat, wondering how powerful she was.

Rachel looked over the boy, trying to determine just what powers he had. Sometimes she just couldn't help that. He seemed to be a fire starter from what she could tell, that was interesting. So far she didn't meet a fire starter in this school. Well probably she didn't meet all the people with other interesting powers so far yet too, but at least she already knew quite the few people. That would do for now, hopefully in time she'd get to know the entire school.
"TV? Something interesting on?" She asked, glancing at the TV.There seemed to be a news report about some fire and destruction in the Zoo, that made her frown deeply. To think of all those innocent animals inside. These people couldn't treasure what they had, they didn't know one day it might all be gone, all of it. Just gone. But had she the right to tamper with the time-lines, to tell how it will be? How the moral part of having such power sucked. On the one hand she wanted so much to prevent catastrophe, but was it her place to do so?
"Those poor animals. Why can't people just destroy things on their own territory? Those animals suffer enough being in cages, some jerks scaring them or harming is too much." She couldn't help but say that, Rachel loved animals. Even more so ever since she saw how many they had in here. In her own time she was lucky to see dogs, rats, or a stray cat.
His question about what she was reading brought her back from her annoyed state about the animals. "This? Oh it's some book about these people in a sub, there's something in that air that makes them go paranoid, think there's a war and almost launch some very destructive torpedo's." She said, showing him the book.

Ok so he totally felt guilty once he heard how much she liked animals. He was definitely not going to tell her that had been him and his bud that had destroyed the zoo. They had only wanted something to do and...having a fight using your powers in a zoo, seemed like a good idea at the time. So not everyone would agree in how they dealt wiht their boredom. Oh well. "Yea those poor animals...." So he didnt sound all that sympathetic but he hadnt really thought of hurting the animals...just set their habitat on fire.
He read the cover and flipped through it really quickly, not really reading any of it. "Oh that sounds interesting...maybe I should get into reading so I can read about war....I like fighting...so war is definitely my thing." Rayne smiled at Rachel.

How he said the remark about poor animals was strange, it didn't sound sympathetic at all. Was he some animal hater or what? Or he was trying to act the tough guy. A lot of men did that after all, in her time even she was rather on the tough chick side. Here however she was the innocent sweet Rachel, for all she knew she looked harmless. What an understatement of the truth that was. She was far from harmless.
Deciding not to get into a talk with him about that, as to not give anything away about herself she just turned her gaze back to the TV and used her power to switch channels, right to where they showed people in funny and possibly harmful accident situations. Though the way they presented it made you laugh. Who knew people could laugh at the bad luck of others. Then again they had everything here, why not some fun on accidents.
Rayne's like for war surprised Rachel, how could anyone like war? Were these people here mad to think so? "War is your thing? Well I'm not sure just what you people here think war is about, but it's not fun at all. It's real dying, pain, destruction of everything you might like or love." Way too late she realized just what was she saying, yeah that probably gave away a thing or two. Kicking herself mentally she just shifted in her seat and looked back to TV, where just some guy did a flip with his bike.
"Um, is that bike flip really funny? I mean to him probably not." She said, trying to change topic of the conversation.

Rayne's head tilted to the side in curiousity. Had she been through a war or something? Seriously, how would she know what war was about? Well it wasnt like he had gone to war, he just happened to like the excitement and adrenaline from the fight. "Well Rachel, I meant the excitemnet of war...just knowing that that moment could be the last moment ever....just the thought of almost dying..and then you dont..." He suddenly cleared his throat, he so sounded like a weirdo. Death was just another moment in life...in a way you could say that everyone just lives to die. Rayne noticed her change in subject, he shrugged. "Yea I guess it's meant to be funny...I honestly think it's stupid" Whenever he watched TV it would always be about the old wars and mutant affairs. He was almost a geek about it.

Rachel frowned, not liking the subject of war at all. Just why did she had to open her mouth, why did certain subjects got to her? She really needed to work on that, otherwise all the lies she was living in at this past time would go down the drain. That would be bad for her image in the eyes of others. Well maybe except Ethan, he seemed to be very understanding. So much that it even surprised Rachel, even though she didn't let it show.
Glancing back at the boy she sighed, she'd never understand these people. Excitement of war. What crap talk. Sure there was this anxious feeling in every fight, but she never really considered it all that good. Sometimes it controlled you, made you go over the top. And she knew terrible things would happen if she went over the top.
"And what if you do? Die I mean..." She asked against her better judgment, eyes kept on the TV. She didn't think any reply to the funny accidents show was needed. Nor came to her mind for that matter.

Rayne was slightly surprised she went back to the subject of war. She had seemed so against it but maybe she had just gone through something that tore her up inside. He leaned his head back, looking at the ceiling thinking about his answer to her question. "Well...I guess I'd just die...Of course, I wouldnt want to die...theres someone that I care for dearly. But if I hadnt met her...I'd just be some kid that died in a fight....." There was some anger in his words, he couldnt help it. Just the thought of knowing that if he hadnt met Becky, no one would care about him. His guardian obviuosly didnt no matter how many times she said that she loved him. Everything she said was a lie and maybe in a way that's what makes him want to fight so much. Fighting and war and the thought of dying takes his thoughts off of hte pain he calls life. Rayne folded his arms, staring at the TV but not really watching it.
