Roman walked into the Academy's Library. It wasn't up to par with what Xavier had, but it was close. Walking through the shelves of books, he found the section he was looking for. Ancient Egypt Culture, was the book that stood out among the rest. Pulling the book off the shelf, a small coating of dust fell with it. It looked like the book hadn't been touched in ages, let alone even looked at. Roman was always interested in the past. "Through the past you can try and solve the mysteries of the future," is some thing he had always said to students. He made his way to a small table near a window, and placed the book down on the table with a soft thud. Roman pulled up a chair and started to flip the pages of the book. He was to involed in reading the book, he didn't notice an other in the room.

[[Hope you don't mind if I join... ]] Veronica was a bit surprised once she walked into the library, and found someone else in there, comfortably curled up in the depths of a book. She had had the library to herself for days, and enjoyed the quiet luxury it provided, a safe haven from the hell of classes she taught. Lately, ever since the incident with Raynes insolence, her students decided to follow in his footsteps, and cause mischief. She often walked into her classes, to be greeted by students making objects zoom across the room, showing off their strength by lifting her desk, and one even caused a slight tornado(although not on purpose) which scattered the previous days test into oblivion, to her dismay and her students pleasure. With a book cradled under one arm, Veronica silently flipped her dark hair over her shoulder, and sat by the windowsill, as she had done for the past few weeks. Drawing together a light smile, she looked at the boy, well man, and gave him a slight wave before her eyes were downcast, scanning the pages of her book furiously.

((not at all))
Roman looked up to see a woman her looked young, but he couldn't guess her age. She couldn't of been a student with the books under her arms. Kids hated to read book in given in class, Roman included, he wasn't the last kid to sparknotes his books in school. His eyes followed her as she crossed the library. As she sat down she waved to him, he smiled and nodded. Both turned their eyes back to thier books.
Roman had hit a point in the book about the piramids. Like most books, they never told about the true horror and what it was like to travel in one. In dismay, Roman closed the book and looked up at the woman across the room. The light shinning the from the window, made the dust swirl around her head. She had to be younger than Roman. Roman didn't like to say it, but he was getting old. Leaving the book on the table he crossed the room to where she sat. "Any good?" He asked, his deep voice almost echoing in the empty space among the books. From where Roman was, he couldn't tell what she was reading.

"Oh, yes it is." she admitted with a smile, lifting the cover of the book, in order to show him the title. The Hunchback of Notre Dame. She had actually read the book a few times, when she was younger. The first time when she was fourteen, then three years later at the age of seventeen. And now, five years later, she was once again re-reading the classic, with a much deeper appreciation for Victor Hugo's detail, a fact that had annoyed her when she was younger.
He would use pages of detail in order to describe things, five years ago, she was more of a get to the point person. But now at the age of twenty-two, she had picked up on things better. Like the complex villain of Judge Frollo and his prejudice, and lust. It intrigued her.
She looked up at Roman, glancing him over with her dark eyes, trying to figure out his age. Not that it mattered, but she was curious. She decided he must have been a part of the faculty that she had yet to meet, seeing as how he didn't look old, but not quite young enough to be a student. Actually, he could have been one, were it not for the light of maturity that seemed to illuminate him.
"I'm Veronica." she said after what seemed like ages, even though it had been only a few seconds. "Do you work here?"

(haha, why didn't I guess that would be the book)
"The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Good book. Some historical flaws, but still a very good book. Sad too." Roman said, smiling, sitting down opposite of her. He had read the book once or twice in his travels. Ten books, all setting the story in the late 1400's in Pairs.
The woman seemed alot younger up close, and there was something about her that made her seem not older, but wiser and just a little stressed out. Her face still had the youthful glow, and it seemed to make her alot younger than she might of been.
"I do, I've only been here like a month, I haven't got around too much yet. It's been awhile since I've been in a place like this." He had wondered the Earth for the past 9 years, collecting learning about the past, doing some 'excavation' work. He figured it was time to go back to a school, and hopefully help young mutants grow very much like how Xavier's school helped him. "I'm Roman, It's my pleasure to meet you." Roman knew he was getting over the top, but he carried on. "I'm going to be the History teacher here."

(Haha, I had just finished reading the book when I discovered this site. ^_^)
"Oh, history!"she exclaimed in a whisperer, a hint of excitement in her voice. She had been average in history when she was in school, but it went hand in hand with reading sometimes, which gave her quite a bit of useful knowledge when it came to the course. Funny how she had ended up and algebra teacher. As decent as she was at math, literature was where her heart lay. Deep within the pages of tattered and often overlooked books. Some books even motivated her to travel back to Europe, to explore the places where books had often lead her mind, putting herself in the place of characters.
"I hope the kids haven't been giving you a hard time...it's been hell for me." she admitted playfully rolling her eyes.

((you told me. I said watch the movie))
"History." Veronica seemed to light up at the mention of the subject. "You like History? Not many do anymore." Roman said. He figured if she was a reader, than history did effect her in one way or another. Roman took a course at Xavier's with conbinded History and Literature. It was called American Studies, focused on American Lit/History. He didn't care for it too much when he took it, but he realised what a great course it was afterwords.
"Accually, they haven't been to bad, I'm surprised. I was a horrible student and gave the teacher a hard time when I was still in school." Roman smiled. "But I'm waiting for one of them to snap, they're not all angels."
((it's short but I really got to go ttyl))

Veronica supressed a light chuckle, and just looked at him, a twinkle of amuesment dancing behind her eyes. Most of the time, sh didn't need to saywhat she was thinking, or how she even felt about things. She was good at just using body language, expressions. Those who were good at reading people, could read her face as if it were a complex novel, figuring out the main point of what she was trying to come across.
"Lucky you. My students just can't stop being so...rude." she replied, her expression dropping, and a rather tired look comming arcoss her face. She pouted slightly, the same way she did when something bothered her. Veronica was never too keen on going to her classes, the way she had been at some other jobs she had. But oh well, what goes around comes around, her students would ralize they should have paid attention in class, especially when final exams came around.

Roman laughed, his voice really did echo this time. "You know the best way to control a class, use byour powers agaist them." Roman didn't want to give the impression he ment that the students should be beat so he added. "For me at least, if my class got out of hand I would do something like this." He reached into a small bag attached to his belt and pulled out a normal 6 sided dice and placed it on the table. The dice exploded with a soft bang. "It's a nice alarm for kids who try to sleep in my class." Ok, no more showing off.
"Your kids are getting you down. Let me guess, you've got a kid who lights stuff on fire the normal trouble maker. A kid who just stares blankly into space. A kid who thinks he's too cool, and a few almost perfect students." Roman just picked out the kids he rembered from his class at Xavier's Mansions. "My class when I was younger. We had this one kid who couldn't stop creating a sonic boom everytime out teacher tried to tell us something." He couldn't believe he was telling Veronica all this. Then it hit him, it's really been awhile since he's sat down an talked to someone that didn't involve a heist or life/death.

Veronica's eyes widened a bit once the dice exploded, and she could help but let out a quiet giggle. Now that would be a useful class power. "Bravo Mr. Roman, bravo." she said, giving a light clap at his powers. A light frown came across her face as she said Mr.
Funny, calling him Mister didn't seem as if it fit. But it was always a respectful gesture. "I suppose using my powers on the students might do something. But I think it would make them laugh, rather then get them to pay attention."
A light smile replaced her frown as she mused at the thought of roaring at her students in the form of a tiger. Or better yet, a dinosaur. That might actually put them into place for once.
At this point, she had almost forgotten her book, until it slipped through her fingers, landing with a small thud on the floor. Looking down in surprise, she quickly bent over to retrieve it, then laid it down by her side, deciding to continue her conversation with Roman instead. It was nice to have someone around her age to talk to. Or at least she assumed he was around her age, he certainly looked the part.

"Mister? I don't look that old do I?" Roman laughed, he wasn't mad, just a little surprised, nobody had ever really called him Mr. anything, unless Mr. was followed by a swear or two. "It's Mr.Vangelis, either way they both dont sound good, but I have to get over that if I want to teach." He smiled again. "Unless your only power is to have horrible dance moves, I'm sure it wont make them laugh. Why what can you do?" Roman wanted to know what she could do that would make kids laugh.
Roman too had forgotten his book on the other table in the room. It wasn't until Veronica's book hit the floor did he remember the whole conversation started with books at all. As Veronica picked up her book and tucked it at her side, Roman smiled at her.
(it's short, my head hurts)

"Well, I'm what people would call an animorph." she said with a light shrug. She didn't find her powers quite useful, but they did have a good disguise advantage. Besides that though, she had pheromone manipulation, and that was o ne she had only discovered within the last three years, she still couldn't figure out how to master it.
"And I have pheromone manipulation, but that's not very useful either." she shook her head lightly, a tangle of dark locks shadowing her face. Moving the hair out of her eyes, she looked up at him with a light smile.
"So..what brings you..here?" she asked, refering to the academy as here.

"Animorph. I feel a copy right infringement." He of course was talking about the Animorph books. The shug was a clue that she didn't seem to care to much about her powers. "Do you know how many people would want to be a dog or a bird for a day? I'd say your powers are one of the greatest. I would love to have the speed of a jaguar or the wings of a hawk." Being able to change forms was one of the powers that Roman had wished he was born with. Some of the greatest, and worst mutants were shape shifters.
"Pheronones?" Roman looked puzzeled and then his face lit up. "Oh, ok I know what you mean. That could come in handy someday. Not sure exsactly when but it could." Roman ran his fingers through his hair and leaned back in his chair.
"What brings me here?" he repeated the question. "I wanted to return to my roots. I've traveled the world for ten years. Seen most of it, mostly the dark parts, but other amazing things too. I'm sort of a geek when it comes to nature and history." Roman leaned in again. "More for historical artifacts though." Roman's face wasn't a frown or a smile, he had stolen some of the worlds most valuable stuff, he returned most of it though, he just did it for the challenge. "Like I said, I havn't been in a mutant academy since I was 12, it helped me alot, so why not pass it on."

"Haha, you're a clever one. " She joked, referring to the animorph joke. Of course, that was always what she thought of at the word animorph, even though she hadn't read a single one of the books.
"Oh wow." she said musing over how he had traveled. Traveling had always been a major interest of hers. She had been to Greece, Spain, mostly places that she had read about in books. The old buildings in those places were extraordinary, and the scenery was breathtaking. Sometimes she wished she could just travel the world forever.
One of the only places she had yet to be, was where she was born, France. She longed to go there, and gt rid of the nostalgia she felt thinking of where she had been abandoned, but it wasn't cheap, and she wasn't sure if she could face her past.
"Where have you been so far?" she asked, obviously interested.

Roman was surprised she was so interested, he could talk for days about all his travels and misdoings. "Umm...Egypt, Rome, France, Italy, Shanghhi, Hong Kong, Colorado, few places in Russia, and alot of places that aren't even a blip on the map. "You know there is a whole Prehistoric World under the ice of Antartica?" Roman had visited there a few times in his travels, he had a friend who lived down there.
((I think it's antartica, I can't rember what pole it's at...it was in the comics))
